Hidden stains and insect traces rarely show up under normal room light. This UV flashlight puts 100 LEDs behind a single lens to flood a surface with 395nm long-wave ultraviolet light, so dried marks on a mattress, a carpet or a hotel duvet stand out as bright patches against the dark. It is small enough to sit in a bag or a glovebox and bright enough to work across a whole room rather than one small patch.

Long-wave UV makes the dried salts and proteins left behind by urine and other bodily fluids fluoresce, which is what turns an invisible mark into an obvious one. Switch it on in a darkened room and sweep slowly across mattress seams, headboards, skirting boards and upholstery; the beam is rated to 100 m and marks stay readable from around fifty feet away. It draws 3W and runs 5 to 10 hours on six AA batteries, which are not supplied.
