Description
Description
This is a doorbell that works by physics rather than electronics. A polished brass bell hangs in a walnut frame and is rung by the door itself as it opens. Nothing needs pairing, there are no batteries to swap and no chime unit occupying a hallway socket. The ring arrives the instant the door moves, which is exactly what a shop counter or a home office wants from an entry alert.
The back is magnetic, so on a steel door or frame it goes up in a second and can be lifted off and repositioned as often as you like. Glass and wooden doors take it with strong double-sided tape instead. Mounted on the frame near the swing of the door, the bell picks up that movement and gives a clear ring per entry, with no adjustment or calibration to work through first.
The tone is bright but restrained, pitched for a small shop, a café, a bedroom or a living room where a gentle alert carries far enough without startling anyone. Walnut and brass are the whole material list, polished to a smooth finish; the brass will darken slightly with handling unless you polish it, which some owners prefer. Two finishes are offered, dark and light. One doorbell is supplied.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does it ring?
The door itself strikes it as it opens. There is no circuit, no sensor and no delay: the sound arrives the moment the door moves.
Does it need power or pairing?
Neither. No batteries, no app, no chime unit occupying a socket. That is the whole argument for a mechanical bell.
What is it made of?
A polished brass bell in a walnut frame. Both materials improve with age rather than looking tired after a couple of years.
How is it fitted?
It mounts beside the door where the swing reaches it. Getting the position right takes a minute and sets the tone of the ring.
Is brass loud?
Brass gives a clear ring that carries through a house without being harsh, which is why shops and hallways have used it for generations.
